Lord King was Secretary of State for Defence from 1989 to 1992, presiding over the first Gulf War. Prior to that, he held four different Cabinet positions during Thatcher's governments from 1983 - Environment, Transport, Employment, and Northern Ireland. He was MP for Bridgwater until he was made a life peer in 2001, and he now serves as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party's Policy Group on National and International Security, which was set up by David Cameron in 2006.
Lord King will be addressing OUCA members during our Termly Dinner event, which will this year be held in the beautiful surroundings of the Dining Hall of Somerville College. Good food, good wine, and good politics all round!
